GEOPHYSICS !
Always in every opportunity that I could have when I ask about Geophysical Engineering Career what covers your area of study, I have always responded that helps us understand Geophysics all phenomena that occur on our planet , helping various tools , including mathematics basically highlighting .
But before proceeding to explain it , I will tell you something more personal . When studying this race always wondered why studying mathematics, in any case of the subjects of calculus , matrices , derivatives, integrals single, double and triple integrals. At that time I could not understand what was actually meant .
Until then there was anyone to explain to us why, since we simply just study to pass our courses. But as the race wore on , I myself could answer to that big question . To begin engineering is a set of knowledge and techniques based on mathematics themselves .
Since in order to conduct research on a particular topic in Geophysics , necessarily will need mathematics to develop your concepts, hypotheses , and because your future theories. Thus, to study Seismology and everything related to earthquakes , you must apply mathematical methods such as Fourier transforms , integral convolutions , deconvoluciones , among others. To study physical climatology will also have to make use of mathematics to study , and not only that , also in the field of surveys , Geotechnical , Mechanical soil or rocks on the slope stabilities , or just in the studio dam .
As you can see , these are only some examples of what you have to keep in mind if you study Geophysics , since the same word teaches you . Geophysics is the study of Earth from a physical point . And understand , physics is closely related to mathematics.
Now in Spain is being conducted Science Week 2013 which is recognition of Geophysics and geophysical studies for his work in the earth's crust , oceans , atmosphere , climate change , helping in various areas related to human survival . (1)

If we think that we study mathematics in different universities do not help us in the study of geophysics we are wrong, helps us understand what the physical behavior that govern our planet. Moreover, if we engage in the future to conduct research in any area of geophysics that math always need to reach our final conclusions. Think about it!
