Halema'uma'u crater is located within the much larger summit caldera of Kilauea National Park Hawaii Volcanoes. The floor of the crater is nearly circular about 770 meters (2530 feet) x 900 meters (2,950 feet) and 83 meters (270 feet) below the floor of the Kilauea caldera.
It is located at coordinates 24'36 ° 19 "N 155 ° 17'11" W
According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, the crater is currently active, with lava in open vented fluctuating from 70 to 150 feet below the crater floor (1)
