Evaporimeter tank
All we could study the course of Meteorology in college career Geophysical Engineering or related branches we have encountered a peculiar instrument when visiting a weather station. We refer to evaporimeters Tanks, those who have a circular appearance and is full of water.

But what is a pan evaporation and what can serve a meteorologist ?

Simply a Evaporimeter tank is a circular tank where its diameter is greater than its height. One of the best known is the Evaporimeter tank type A which has a diameter of 121 cm and a height of 25.5 cm.

This tank is made up of galvanized iron and mounted 15 cm above the ground on a wooden platform allowing separate ventilation and where crops that are around the tank must not exceed one meter high .

This instrument allows us to calculate the amount of tank water that has been evaporated by the sun, where its measure is calculated from consecutive measurements over a period of time followed . Its measurement is given in millimeters and where every action is only performed once per day for an exact time determined.

The difference in readings between a full tank and evaporated level indicates the end of evaporation.

Schematic of a tank evaporation.
The water level inside the tank is measured using a measuring hook which is composed of a sliding scale with a hook at one end and by a vernier. The correct position of the meter relative to the water surface is indicated by the tip of the hook should be adjusted so that this just touches the surface. Inside the tank is still water chamber ( Pozo Tranquillizer ) measurement while ensuring the water surface be agitated.
