Meteorology is a science that study all the physical processes of the atmosphere, which is why, that man is based on the eye and instrumental observations. But not all atmospheric phenomena can be studied and analyzed with the senses, is such that instruments are used to measure, calculate and / or determine more precise measurements or observations.
For the study and analysis of the wind there is a weather instrument that will help us in this task, the anemometer. The anemometer is a weather instrument used to measure wind direction and intensity, employing a vane to measure the direction and a small generator driven by a horn to measure the intensity. (1)
There are generally two types of anemometers: cup anemometers and propeller.
(2) cup anemometers are a set of three cups connected to a centrally vertical axis for rotation. According to its design, at least one cup is always facing the oncoming wind. The aerodynamic shape makes the pressing force of the wind in rotary torque.
Propeller anemometer consists of a propeller mounted on a horizontal axis that is oriented with the wind through the use of a weather vane, generating a signal proportional to the wind speed electrical signal.
